Schmitty still runs Bartertown

Backup offensive guard Alex Williams has been dismissed from the team (Stoops “decided not to renew his scholarship,” officially), leaving a precarious depth situation on the offensive line a little more tenuous.

No reasons were given, but this usually means academics were an issue. In addition, we can probably surmise that Schmitty ordered a Code Red on the kid after he refused to get off his obstacle.

The 6’6″, 300-lb redshirt sophomore from New Orleans is the third Sooner lineman to leave in this offseason, following center Jason Hannan and OG Kody Cooke. Williams appeared in six games last season. He was listed second on last year’s depth chart at RG behind departing senior Brandon Walker. He was battling Stephen Good for the starting position during spring drills.
