KU strawman takes umbrage with Capel

The folks at KUsports.com have decided to grant their designated strawman access to their WordPress backend today. Seems they’re miffed about Jeff Capel supposedly slighting their revered basketball program to the Denver Post.

To wit:

“Now you take Sherron Collins off Kansas and let’s see them beat Texas (Saturday),” Capel said. “Let’s see them come down here and play us when we’re fully healthy.”

Apparently the only thing they picked up on was Capel challenging Kansas to another game with the Sooners fielding a fully healthy team. Taken out of context, sure that’s what it appears to say (and I might have turned our strawman loose on it just for grins, too).

Taking the time to really read it, though, Capel’s talking about OU’s two recent losses while playing without the best player in the country and saying, look if you take Kansas’ best player and put him in a dazed stupor on the bench, they might have trouble, too.

For their sakes, I sure hope the Hawks (5 in a row, no scholarship Kansas player has ever lost a Big 12 tournament game, etc) don’t need something like this as motivation to beat OU in OKC, 30 minutes from LNC and a quick jaunt down the expressway from Casa Griffin. I’d think trying to go out and prove you deserve all of your post-season accolades (which, grudgingly admitted, they do) and beating the Sooners in what will be more like a home game for them should suffice.
